How to read the compatibility grid

The grid below scores every one of the 78 possible sign pairings out of five. The score is built from the classical relationships between signs: how their elements combine, how far apart they sit on the zodiac wheel, and whether their modalities pull in the same direction or against each other. Same-element pairs tend to score high on ease; opposite signs often score high on attraction while demanding more work.

A low score is not a verdict. Trine-and-sextile comfort makes a relationship easy to start, but square and opposition tension is what makes one interesting — plenty of long marriages run on friction that both people learned to use. Read the score as a description of the terrain, not a prediction of the outcome.

Compatibility questions

Which zodiac signs are most compatible?

Signs of the same element usually get along most easily — fire with fire, earth with earth — as do signs 120 degrees apart. But the pairings people find most compelling are often the harder ones, where the differences are the point.

Can two incompatible signs have a good relationship?

Yes. Sun-sign compatibility describes a starting temperature, not a ceiling. Communication, timing and everything outside the birth chart matter far more.

Should I use sun signs or full birth charts?

A full synastry comparison, which weighs both entire charts, is much more detailed. Sun-sign compatibility is a quick first read — useful, but broad by nature.

Why do two signs score differently on love and friendship?

Because the aspects that make people easy to talk to are not the ones that generate attraction. A pair can be excellent friends and a difficult romance, or the reverse.
