Divination systems share one structure: a randomising step, a fixed symbol set, and a person doing the interpreting. The randomiser breaks your existing narrative about a situation; the symbols give you unfamiliar language for it; you supply the meaning. That is the whole mechanism, and it is more interesting than the version where the cards know things.

What this reliably produces is not information about the future. It is a reaction. You draw a card, read what it says, and notice that you are relieved, or disappointed, or arguing with it — and that reaction is data you did not have a minute earlier, about a question you thought you were neutral on.

The tools here are genuinely random: every draw uses your browser’s cryptographic random number generator rather than rotating through a list. Nothing is stored, nothing is personalised, and drawing again costs nothing — though a second draw usually tells you more about your mood than about your question.

Are these readings actually random?

Yes. Every draw calls your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, the same one used for security-sensitive work. There is no rotating list and no server deciding what you get.

Can tarot predict the future?

We do not claim it can, and the tools here are not built as forecasting instruments. What a spread does dependably is externalise a question so you can see your own assumptions in it.

Do I need my own deck?

Not for these. A physical deck is worth having if you want reversals, larger spreads or the tactile part of the practice — none of which the browser version replaces.
