A life path number comes from a birth date and nothing else. Add every digit of the date — day, month and full year — then keep adding the digits of the result until one digit is left. A birth date of 14 March 1990 gives 1+4+3+1+9+9+0 = 27, then 2+7 = 9, so that is a life path 9.
11 is one of the three master numbers, along with the other two of 11, 22 and 33. The convention is to stop reducing when you reach one of them: a total of 11 is left as 11 rather than continued to 2.
